The Day The Rose Fell

Once there was a rose so loved
By every petal on every flower
The stems and stalks respectfully bowed
And the rain so sadly did shower

Oh the poor rose ill fated
The world silently wept
For the day so barbarously dated
Faster and faster, it crept

The rose blinked, oblivious
The entire meadow bawled
A shadow, cunning and devious
Lazily it lolled

The rose took a nap
The shadow opened it’s jaw
A terrible sound that went SNAP
And their rose went down a gaping maw

‘Bid adieu to rose, my dears’
The fair daisy cried
‘It has come true, our worst fears
And our blushing rose has died’
